We request that students with special needs notify the instructors before the class begins so that every effort can be made to accommodate the student's needs and ensure the student has every reasonable opportunity to pass the course.
Two course options are available; (1) Traditional, and (2) Home Study On-line. Please see following course information for details.
For a schedule of Traditional Hunter Education classes offered, refer to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website.
Please
remember that you must attend both days (classroom and field exercise) to
receive credit for taking the course. No one will be given credit unless both
phases are completed ON CONSECUTIVE days.
The
Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries offers a Home Study Course.
The course is split into two portions: a home study session and a field day
exercise. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FIELD DAY IS A
DIFFERENT FORMAT THAN THE FIELD EXERCISE PORTION OF THE TRADITIONAL CLASS
OPTION and MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUTED.) You may take the class on-line or
request a CD-ROM disc and take the course on your personal computer. The details
of the course are found on the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries
website.
Pre-registration
for these dates is mandatory (see below to register for the class). Class size
is restricted to the first 50 persons to pre-register! To
pre-register, students must have completed the on-line final exam and PRINTED
the results. The printed exam results MUST be brought to the range to
participate in the field day. The exam does NOT have to be notarized. No one
will be pre-registered for a field day if they have not completed the on-line
program. The printed final exam form MUST show a score between 100 and 76; any
other score is unacceptable. If the form shows a large negative number, or you
have problems printing the final exam form, you should contact Gene Cavalier
for assistance and resolve the problem prior to the field day. At
least 15 students must be pre-registered by noon on the Friday before class. If
15 people are not pre-registered, class will be cancelled and those
pre-registered students will be moved to the next class. The
state requires that at least 5 students attend a class. If less than 5 students
attend the field day class, the class must be cancelled. Students
are advised to arrive at the range at least 30 minutes prior to the start of
class; once the field day class has begun, late comers will be turned away. Personal
firearms or ammunition will not be used during the field day exercise. However,
you may bring your firearms to shoot at the range following the class. To Schedule
a Field Day Exercise Class Register On-Line Using the Department of Wildlife
and Fisheries Website Here.
